Devanagari Script

The Devanagari script is an ancient writing system that originated in the Indian subcontinent.

It is used for over 120 languages, including prominent ones such as Hindi, Marathi, and Sanskrit.

Recognizable by its distinctive horizontal line that runs along the top of the letters, Devanagari is an abugida, meaning each consonant has an inherent vowel sound, usually “a,” which can be changed with the addition of diacritical marks.
