Indonesian Language
The Indonesian language, known natively as Bahasa Indonesia, is the official language of Indonesia and a pivotal element in the nation’s unity, given the country’s vast array of ethnic groups and languages.
Indonesian is characterized by its relatively simple grammar; it has no grammatical gender or complex tenses, and it uses a system of verb affixes to express different times and aspects of actions.
Its vocabulary includes many words borrowed from Sanskrit, Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch, and most recently, English, reflecting the diverse influences on Indonesian culture and history.
