B1 Language Level

The “B1” level of the  Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) marks a significant step forward in linguistic competency.

At this stage, learners can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.

They can

  • deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken;
  • produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest;
  • describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

It’s like reaching a level where you can comfortably engage in conversations, write basic essays, and understand straightforward texts in the language.

Other CEFR levels are A1, A2, B2C1 and C2.
